Desert Detectives...![]() Children auditioning to be the next andrex puppy The Desert Detectives, or should that be ‘Dessert’ Detectives, had a very jammy holiday at Christ Church’s holiday club. The club, which ran from 27th August to 1st September, was a great hit with all the 96 children who participated. ![]() Surprise, surprise a messy game involving beans Throughout the whole week the children enjoyed Christ Church’s own youth group being team leaders including the two presenters, Chris Pye and Jon Wood. Chris and Jon took to the stage for the second year running, telling jokes, warming up the children through the early morning work-out and made messy, messy games with jelly etc They even tried to find jammy dodgers in the desert! (They didn’t get very far!). ![]() The old balancing plates of beans on your head routine However, the holiday club concentrated more on the Desert Detectives: Sandy, Doug and June who were on the hunt for the Mighty Godsword. Although, as the week went by the children discovered through the Bible that the Mighty Godsword was actually the Mighty God’s Word. ![]() Shock, horror children sitting still Over the course of the week, the children also loved decorating swords, telling jokes, messy, messy games and singing the songs, with the actions of course! One particular mother even wanted to book her child in for next year’s holiday club – so watch this space! ![]() Making lethal weapons at a holiday club? ![]() Early morning aerobics ![]() Illicit raves in church, don't tell the Bishop! The highly successful and thoroughly enjoyable week reached its climax on Sunday, September 1, at a special, action-packed, all-age family service at the church, full of fun as well as plenty of food for thought. ![]() What is it about bouncy castles and children? Lots of different members of Christ Church and its satellite congregation at the Ashen Drive Centre, representing all age groups, helped to make this year's holiday club both safe and fun. ![]() What is it about bouncy castles and.....adults? ![]() Music to soothe the soul At one point the church's new curate, Andrew Angel, was knighted using one of the wooden swords, for acting as lollipop lady, seeing the children safely across the road from the church to the parish hall each day. ![]() Who loves you baby!
